Eric & Janet Thimell have served with OCSC/Cadence since 1983 in Panama, South Korea, Germany, Colorado, and Idaho. They are currently serving as directors of Victory Ranch, South Carolina, since 2019. Victory Ranch is a retreat center serving Fort Jackson and the McCrady Training Center, which trains reservist Navy troops for deployment with Army troops.
The Thimells host weekend retreats for AIT troops (students completing specialized training following basic training) and Task Force Marshall sailors. The 17-acre property boasts a three-acre lake, hiking trails, and opportunities for relaxation and recreation. The retreats include Bible studies and opportunities to share the gospel. Eric & Janet also host "Duties Days with God" (chaplain-sponsored events for permanent party personnel), MWR (morale, welfare, and recreation) days for military personnel, and use the property to host local church retreats when time and schedule permit. They also lead an AIT Bible study on post at Fort Jackson.
Operating Victory Ranch requires addressing multiple maintenance issues inherent to managing such a large facility. Along with hosting retreats, the Thimells plan and conduct work projects throughout the property, incorporating the labor of faithful volunteers who bring their talents to Victory Ranch.
Eric & Janet are the parents of two grown and married children.
