People say they should have met earlier. Born in the same hospital, attending the same schools -- even sharing a few friends! But God...had a different plan. He waited, preparing them for each other and His adventure.
Gary met Jesus at a Billy Graham Crusade in Houston when he was 16. His dad was a broadcast engineer for CBS TV in Dallas; Gary absorbed interest and technical skills from him. Susan accepted Christ at age 11 when a Christian businessman spoke at church. Susan's family hosted missionaries; stories of God's work inspired her.
They finally met at college in Mississippi! Gary studied to be a pastor; Susan liked English but chose Christian education/business instead. They married in 1972, wondering how God would use them together.
At seminary in California, Gary also worked in medical photography/video, while Susan served at World Vision International. Moving back to Dallas in 1980, the Bauers started a video production company. Their favorite projects -- helping ministries -- always had eternal impact. They became especially passionate about international videos. God-at-work stories have taken them to eastern and western Europe, Israel, the Balkans, Central America, Mexico, and the Philippines. Gary shoots/edits film; Susan scripts and administrates.
In 2009, they officially became missionaries, serving Europartners' marketplace movement across Europe, plus many others, through video, consulting, networking, teaching, and encouraging.
Gary & Susan have two married daughters and eight grandchildren.
